Outbound lead generation is simple in concept, but difficult in execution.
Almost no one gets it right. Often times the problem is that it’s never been tried. Sometimes young companies will say that it’s the sales person’s responsibility to find their own leads. That’s one approach but it leaves a tremendous amount of money on the table.
Sometimes outbound lead generation has been tried and declared a failure. This happens because the person who made the attempt does not have a direct marketing mindset and approach. As a result, they don’t collect the right data and implement more effective campaigns. Instead, they make a few thousand dials, get no results and claim defeat. It does not have to be like this.
The problem is that if you don’t build and run outbound campaigns using the scientific method, then you never see the data you need to make the changes necessary to drive better results. The data is there, you just can’t see it, much less act on it.
